In 1966, at Brown Field Airport (just north of Tijuana), there was a touted race between a single engine airplane and a Shelby. Since the plane had a running start, we assumed that it would blow the Shelby away. But the rules were that the plane and Shelby turn around at the end of the runway (plane in the air) and go back to the start line. Needless to say, the plane beat the Shelby until they turned around and came back.
