I was confused by this statement when I read it yesterday. It's true that you can't show an accurate luminosity histogram for the raw file, because that depends on the color balance chosen. But you *can* show accurate histograms for each of the three color channels, to know if any channel is blown in the raw data (i.e., has reached the saturation level of the photosite). And that's usually what we're worried about when shooting. But as I understand it, all(?) the cameras on the market show the RGB channels of the developed JPEG, which is not what you're worried about when you're shooting raw.
