Well, maybe it's just me. So far several have commented and I seem to be the
only one who senses this expression of discomfort.

Btw, just to be clear, I'm not saying that she actually feels discomfort or
trepidation, just that I'm getting it from her facial expression. I certainly
understand that you've captured a split-second in time and whatever is there
was fleeting at most; as you said, possibly "transitional" between looks.

But so far I seem to be alone on this one, so carry on...

:-)

Cheers,
frank

Frank, I thank you for bring this up. I share with a lot of people the
inability to read subtle expressions. I will freely admit to choosing
this shot as a keeper to retouch and present because of the framing,
the sharp eyes but overall softness -- technical reasons. I saw a
contemplative vulnerability in her expression, but didn't think about
it much more. I was hoping for a relaxed, natural look.

It's tricky shooting anything close to a candid with Lee because she's
always "on". As soon as she sees a camera pointed at her she starts
going through a routine of poses, even while just sitting. I may have
caught her midway between two canned expressions (she specializes in
pinups, so has a fine repertoire of pouts and giddy smiles), or I may
have caught a "why doesn't this guy just go away and let me chill
here" look -- I dunno.

Anyway, I think this works because it is ambiguous. Once I started
thinking about your observation I figured, this is good--makes you
think. In other words, it is not obvious. For me "not obvious" is
desirable in a shot.
