Apparently they're on a fairly good commission so if you want to actually
support the charity they're >representing, it's more beneficial to them if
you find a different way to donate.
First thing I ask when being solicited like this is how much the
organization they're representing will get. Most recently haven't even been
close to 50% - last one stated 12% !

Yeah we had them occasionally. We called them "chuggers" which is short
for "charity muggers." Apparently they're on a fairly good commission so
if you want to actually support the charity they're representing, it's
more beneficial to them if you find a different way to donate.
