The F 70-210mm is excellent on digital too. Sharp throughout it's
range, very low distortion, and very good contrast. Resolution better
than needed even on the K20Dsensor and I would expect the same even with
a K-5. It's only problem mechanically is that the zoom is controlled
through a cam and pin, with the pin held in place by two screws. If
either screw comes loose it can jam both the zoom ring and the focus
rings, if both come loose the zoom ring will spin beyond it's normal
range and mangle the data brush which is quite delicate and is no longer
available, rendering any repair problematic, which is something to keep
in mind. I've owned two of them and one is now a parts lens, the other
is awaiting a convenient time for me to send it in for repair,
(accompanied by the parts lens).

Daniel, of the lenses you mentioned I have the SMC-F 80-200mm 4.7-5.6
Its advantages are: lightweight, 49mm filter thread, internal zoom
(the lens doesn't change its length when zoomed), good IQ (though not
outstanding, but better than most people think), cheap price, metal
lens mount, fast focusing, small size.
On the less side: slow (4.7-5.6), cheap build quality.
All in all, its a good lens if you want it small, light and cheap. If
you need something faster, you'll pay the price both in money and
weight. A better quality alternative is the SMC-F 70-210mm 4-5.6. Its
IQ is excellent, at least on film (not to be confused with the FA
70-200mm power zoom or the non-SMC F 70-200 4.5.6).

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
