I'm helping a team at work recruit someone to look after an Access application that they're rolling out to people around the world. Because of the nature of the grant-funding for this we have to recruit globally, so I've been helping with the telephone interviews. The pay on offer is at UK contractor levels, so quite high for most parts of the world, and definitely enough for UK people to apply for - which some have. But for the money we are getting not just run-of-the-mill developers applying, but people with masters degrees, and even a professor who is offering not only himself but also a team of up to 5 developers. This is from the sub-continent, but we've had very impressive applications from Eastern Europe, Africa, UK, Canada, the Middle East. There are a lot of very high quality people out there.
