The only problem with the M mount module, is that it breaks the whole
concept behind the system. Matching the sensor to the lens. The M
module is going to have an APS-C sized sensor, for lenses designed for
24x36mm film frames.
However forgetting about the original concept, which never made a lot of
sense to me, except maybe from a marketing standpoint. The argument
that you had to have a lens matched to a digital sensor doesn't hold
up. A good lens is a good lens, a bad lens is a bad lens, sometimes a
not great lens designed for 35mm film gives better results on an APS-C
digital sensor.
So since the original concept is now broken anyway. If modifications
can be made easily enough Ricoh can build modules for popular lens
mounts of the past and present. Canon FT/FD mount, Minolta MC/MD,
Pentax Ka, (with aperture simulator), M42, m43, and standard 4:3 system
lenses. along with the P10 or S10 modules and an interchangeable mount
module to match the system of your choice, you're point and shoot and
your EVIL camera will have a common user interface, because they are the
same user interface.
Would this work? I don't know, the GRX is already a niche product,
maybe it should become a whole lot of niche products.

Very nice Miserere.
I agree that the best future for the system is to progress in the
module-with-mount concept, specially if it is an M mount evolution as you
suggest.
Also, the body may also be susceptible to be replaced, don't it? (more buffer,
better LCD, precessing power...). In this case it should be done in a way that
it retains compatibility with the different modules, assuming that the original
body can 'cope' with a new module with lots of Mpix to move...
Equipment speculation...I love it !!

Jaume
