it's not technically hard to rotate a display, but for some reason few people do it;
At work I have two 1680x1050 monitors, one landscape, the other portrait. At home, I have a 1920x1200 IPS and a 1920x1080 TFT, both landscape. As soon as I figure out what I want to do with video cards, I'll add a third monitor that's portrait, probably at 1920 x 1200 with an IPS panel. As a coder, there are times that you just can't beat a "three-hundred" column display, and there are other times you can't beat a "100-line" display. Notwithstanding the benefits to editing photos.
