Your camera lens is best near wide open also. Is that the only f-stop you use? If your lens resolves 70lpm wide open and 40 at f16, and your paper resolves 25lpm what difference does which f-stop you use make.
Once again I say: It does not have to be perfect, it just needs to be "good enough".
