If you had a very thin negative, would you rather stop down the lens a bit
to get a managable exposure time, or would you rather leave it wide open and
try for an exposure of 1/125th of a second? :-)

Subject: Best f stop for enlarging??

I read here recently that the best f stop for
enlarging is near wide open.

Then why does my 105mm F5.6 el-nikkor go all
the way to f45???

I recently found I couldnt keep the entire
P67 negative in focus using f8, so now I'm
using f16 and getting better results.

Not sure whether my nega arent flat in the carrier
or there is some field curvature with the
enlarging lens...whatever.
