Got another lens in the mail yesterday for the P67. The one is the 55mm F3.5 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7. This is the early version with the humongous 100mm filter threads. I dont use filters often so I took the plunge on this version as the ebay BIN price was right.
I took some test shots this morning under overcast skies using Tmax 400. Exposure was 125 @ F8 if I recall correctly. All I can say is "This sucker is sharp!" Contrast is great too. Heres a full frame test shot scanned at 100ppi from the 8X10 print: http://www.gate.net/~hifisapi/pooltest.jpg Then I upped the scanner resolution to 600ppi (max limit of my scanner) and scanned the sign only in the center of the frame: http://www.gate.net/~hifisapi/pooltest2.jpg Even with the limit of my scanner you can still read all the script on the sign. Excellent resolution. Of course it probably sucks wide open, but then I never shoot wide open with medium format as the DOF gets way too small. Yes there is a very slight barrel gepmetric distortion which is seen by the reference line I drew on the image, but it's very small thank God and isnt very noticable when viewing the full frame image. Overall I'm very satisfied with this lens and all the others I've bought for the P67. Are there any dogs in the lineup?? I still need a 75mm but am not sure the new F2.8 one is worth twice the price of the old F4.5 one used. Anyone done a shootout/ comparison of the two 75mm's??? Speed isnt really an issue with me, but I'm sure the F2.8 is easier to focus in dim light of course. JCO - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
