Thanks for your comments, Ted. The reason I posted the image here is because I recognize that this is a poor scan, and I am in the process of digging out the negative so that I can re-scan it. In addition to getting a sharper image, I am hoping that there will be more area around the church so that I can also re-crop.
That being the case, your thoughts are just what I was looking for, and they are greatly appreciated. For some reason, I like this image, despite its faults, probably because it brings back pleasant memories of the river cruise we took from Moscow to St Petersburg 12 years ago. I remember the pleasant evening when I was sitting on deck, watching the rather unremarkable river banks, when suddenly this ruin came into view. I ran into my cabin to retrieve my camera, and just barely grabbed this image before we sailed right past it. It took me quite a while to find out a little more about this church and its fate. This is a scan from a 3x5 print, so I am hoping I can improve on the image quality if -- if -- I can find the negative and it is still in good shape. Thanks for commenting.
