I'm not suggesting replacing the helmet with vigilance, but augmenting the vigilance with a helmet. :-) I wouldn't ride a bike in Atlanta traffic largely because there are too many parts of me the safety gear doesn't protect and too many crazy and stupid drivers trying to make me test the safety gear.
