When a car made an illegal turn in front of me, causing me to fly over her hood and land on the pavement, the first thing that contacted the ground was my head (the temple area), then my face, then my shoulder. I had road-rash on my face and my collarbone was broken in two places. My helmet had quite a dent in it. I suffered no head injuries whatsoever. I don't care what the percentages and chances are - I'm convinced that helmet saved my life that day. It's not just "what are the chances of it helping in a collision", it's "how catastrophic would the consequences of that collision be". Despite the few minor inconveniences, I'll continue to wear a helmet. cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
