Yes, this was said to me by a Pentax rep. Normally, they don't know what 
they are talking about :-)
Anyway, recently someone closer to Pentax says that Contax are indeed using 
the same Philips chip.
Basically, Pentax can't make this chip work properly (that is complying to 
Pentax standards) and hence the Pentax people are wondering what Contax is 
doing and are of course sceptical to their solution and release date.
I'm reading this as meaning that Pentax has given up on the Philips chip 
because it's too much hassle and is looking for other solutions.
