WRT thumbnail generating programs and 48bit TIFFs: the freeware
Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) supports reading 48bit files, although
it only reads them, it cannot save them back in 48 bits. If you do any
adjustment with it it can so far save them only as normal 24bit. But
even reading them is useful, as it can generate HTML thumbnail pages
or big image with thumbnails VERY easily. Worth of try!
