it's a good idea, but from this side of the Atlantic the old mall doesn't look very old, and doesn't appear to have any character worth saving. That doesn't mean I think they should build yet another! The pictures are well made, but to me they are not really conveying what you have described above, which is the loss of the local shops that made it distinctive. I think you might find this easier to convey by photographing the people who owned the local shops, with their goods.
