Joseph, the time to buy gear is the time I almost wish I'd live in the
US...
Being fair, I do miss gumbo, diving in the Keys and Disneyworld to some
extent. ;-)

The MX cameras are nice, but have suffered heavy useage.
Repair will be more expensive than finding a low milage used copy.
He's right, Luiz. You can replace the MX if you must with a better one
for less than or equal to the cost of a repair. As you know, I no longer
had an MX, but I did have a winder, a motor drive, and a 250 exposure
back, as well as a Pentax cartridge loader for same. (and both kinds of
dial backs and a polaroid back and all the screens) But the other day I
saw a 17mm ƒ4 K-mount lens on eBay I wanted (LBA) and it came with an MX
body. When it arrived, it turned out the MX had hardly ever been used.
No scratches, no dents, still had the plastic cover on the baseplate,
and it wasn't scratched or marked in any way. There was some oxidation
in the threads for the battery compartment, but the compartment itself
was clean. I cleaned up the threads and have a new camera. Which I
figure I need to be able to sell the other MX components either as a
huge kit, or one by one, using the body as a demo.
I won't tell you the price, but it was (in retrospect) so damn reasonable.
So keep your eyes open. Working MXs sell all the time on eBay US for
less than $100. Just over $100 for black bodies.
