My SMC-M 28mm f2.8 has a solid dot rather than the f-stop at the second position from wide open on the aperture ring. Without the manual, I would not have known that this means that instead of going f2.8, f3.5, f4, etc as most lenses do, the SMC-M 28mm f2.8 goes from f2.8 directly to f4 with no half stop between.
