I have that very lens, but I never use it, only because the focal lengths are next to useless to me on my *istD. I have two other VS1's, a 35-85 f2.8 and 24-48 f3.8, both constant aperture. I sometimes us the 35-85. It's big and heavy but that fast speed makes it useful for indoors although I find that for some reason it really accentuates noise at high ISO's. Here's a shot recently taken with it: http://knarfinthecity.blogspot.com/2008/12/conversation.html I find the 24-48 to be too hard to focus at wider focal length without a focusing aid, even with the *istD's bright focusing screen. I regularly use a few other manual focus lenses, primarily my Vivitar f3.8 19mm and my Zenitar f2.8 16mm fisheye. One thing about APS-sized sensors: I crave wide! I don't have to worry about that silly SR zoom length stuff... ;-) cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
