I really liked this big hefty one-touch zoom when I had my DS.
Despite its slight tendency to overexpose by about a stop, it was big
'n' bright and sharp.
I've found less and less love for manual zooms since getting my K10D,
though. Why? Because I like to use SR for most of my hand-held stuff
(especially at long zooms, where it is actually quite useful) and
since this is a manual zoom, I either have to pick a zoom length,
stick with it, and set the SR accordingly - or just not use SR (or
accept that it's a compromise).
Frankly, it's more trouble than it's worth and I don't do that much
telephoto work anymore. It's on my stack of "I'll probably be getting
rid of this lens" lenses (which is, admittedly, a stack that rarely
actually goes down in size).
What have others done with their ueber-zooms which are not auto
focus? Do you still use them, and if so what do you do (if anything)
about that pesky "zoom length" setting for the SR?
