First time poster - joined last night.
Finally made the move from a p&s to a dSLR, and got a K20D with the 18-55 II
lens from Adorama about 2 weeks ago. Previous was a Canon S110 Digital Elph
2.1MP p&s (bought new in 2000 @ Best Buy).

If for some reason she REALLY REALLY wants a Nikon, if you have a Costco
nearby, or get a membership online, they have the D40 + 18-55 lens+2Gb DS card
for $549 +shipping, D40+18-55+55-200VR+2Gb SD for $599

Adorama.com shows a K10D body, Used, Excellent condition boxed w/accessories,in
stock, $394

If $699 is not climbing too high, although it may be worth it, call up Adorama,
and see if they can still do the K20D+18-55 kit lens for $699. Even get free
shipping, which is what I got.

If it's not out of reach, and you call, worse they can do is say no.
And if it's within reach, and they will do it, and you buy TOMORROW, you will
qualify for the 2 extra
years of warranty Pentax is offering on K20D's bought until 12/31/2008, for a
total of 3 years of warranty.
