M mount in its current incarnation is also the most advanced successful RF mount. While it hasn't evolved much since 1953 (Only the addition of 6 digit lens coding with the M8 introduction) it is arguably the current state of the art. Attempts to launch newer, more advanced RF mounts have effectively failed (Contax G anyone?)
