For a couple of years, I participated in the Lone Pine Time Trials, a
very fast autocross held annually at the disused Manzanar airstrip in
California.  I was driving a 125 hp Civic del Sol (in the slowest
Stock class) and reached over 80 mph on the longest straight.  I have
no doubt that some of the Corvettes were up around 100 mph.
