I need to compile a slideshow of app. 250 images which displays the pan and zoom Ken Burns effect on a PC. The stuff I have found involves manual tweaking of 250 transitions. The frustrating part is that both the Wii and XBOX360 have simple slideshow software which works exactly how I want it: Insert a SD card filled with jpg's and the sildeshow starts with smooth random pan and zoom effects and smooth, simple, transitions. My plan was to use a notebook and beamer for a modern slideshow as a background during a party. My Xbox only has video out cables which drops the resolution.
