Camera Raw does hot/dead pixel removal automatically so you can't use  
it as a test for dead pixels.

I used VueScan, which doesn't do dead pixel removal, when I tested  
the *ist DS but I don't see VueScan listing either the K10D or K20D  
as supported so far.
