I've seen no sign of any difference in 'sensitivity' comparing SD cards with CF, xD and Memory Stick cards used over he past 6 years and 160,000 exposures. I never connect camera to computer, I always use a card reader, and I've had exactly the same amount of reliable operation with all of them.
Once in a great while, the reader will fail to recognize a card. Usually just unplugging and plugging the reader back into the computer, forcing its drivers to reload, solves any such problem. It happens with all cards now and then ... just happened for the first time in months with a CF card ten minutes ago.
