Yes, the SMC Takumars are better than the Super Taks in that they are more flare resistant. One would have to take the same flare-prone shot with both lenses to illustrate the difference. But my experience with both says it's substantial. Some lens lines were upgraded optically in the switch from Super Tak to SMC Tak. One that comes to mind is the changeover from the Super Tak 85/1.9 to the much better SMC Tak 85/1.8. Others are identical in terms of element configuration. The 35/3.5 and 50/1.4 come to mind. That's not to say that the Super Taks are bad glass. Some are superb. But they require more caution when shooting in situations where flare could be a problem, such as when bright light strikes the front element at an oblique anglee. -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: ".timber>>code" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Is there any real, visible differenc between the multi coated > SMC-Takumars and the normal (older) Takumar?
