Mike:

I think that is a GREAT idea. Especially for those of us who tend to "listen" more
than "talk".

Another potential inexpensive title might be "Travel Photography : A Guide to Taking
Better Pictures" by Richard I'Anson. It is inexpensive, only US$13.59, at Amazon.
The title is misleading as it really is a primer with an incredible amount of
illustrative examples. I always bring it with me when I travel with the intention of
using my camera. It is small and easy to read on the plane. I usually see something
that perks my interest and I'll try to incorporate it during that trip.

(I'm lucky - I think - that my job requires me to travel nearly every week. If I know
ahead of time that I'll be making multiple visits I'll try to find out about the city
the first time and bring the camera later if the schedule permits. No more boring
evenings in the hotel!)
