Set foreground color to white New blank layer Make a selection around your subject on the blank layer Invert the selection and set feather - I used 200 pixels Fill the selection on the blank layer w/white Deselect Adjust opacity Save as psd or flatten and save as jpg Use the select tool of your choice - I used the lasso.
