To all Pug-sters:
I've been so thoroughly thrilled by shooting 35mm that I've been casually
mentioning my enjoyment to various friends. I assure all that this was done
w/o any intentions other than "talking photography".
Lo and behold, family and friends have been unearthening pentax bodies. I've
recently acquired a zx-m from a family friend and today a program plus
showed up.
I put a A50/1.4 on it. I set it in the A position with the body on Auto but
when I pushed the shutter down, nothing happened. Shutter didn't fire, no
metering either. I opened up the back and everything looks "normal". I
closed the back and tried the film advance but the film advance didn't move a
budge. So I put a new set of two durecell A76 batteries. I put the batteries
one on top of another with the positive (plus+) showing. No shutter, no
meter. I reversed the batteries with both positives (plus+) not showing.
Now with the camera set to manual I get a flashing "E" in the left window box
under the frame within the viewfinder with no information in the right window
box . After a moment, I depress the shutter and I suddenly get a meter
reading but the shutter did not trip. The left window box has a "P" and film
speed. In the right window box is the f/stop.
I then set the camera to manual, opened the lens to 1.4. When I depressed
the shutter I get a 250 film speed and a flashing "+3". Then I get only
"1000" in the left window box and nothing in the right window box.
I frame a different shot and depress the shutter and I get the same 250 film
speed and a flashing "+3".
I then shut off the camera and start all over. I set it to manual and get an
occasional reading but also the blinking "1000" in the film speed window.
The camera looks very clean. No chips or even scratches. The DOF lever
works. The bottom is clean but the cover for the rewind is missing. (maybe
a winder was used?)
So, anyone have any idea what gives?
Any and all thoughts are appreciated.
Be well
Robo
