Let me start out by saying that there aren't a lot of folks here
that were photographers before 35mm cameras came along.
To keep things modern, let's consider doing a ten or twelve hour
day shooting a wedding and its ensuing reception with an RB-67
(or an RZ-67) a Stroboframe bracket, with a flash, and a Quantum
battery sized appropriately for the job.
There is no 35mm rig that is heavier than that, to my knowledge.
All 35mm cameras are much lighter, including the F5. I don't
think that anyone who has used that kind of a wedding rig would
ever think any 35mm camera was too heavy.
Large, fast lenses are usually pretty heavy regardless of brand
or format, so I don't include them as a consideration.
My reason for owning Pentax gear is also the optics. My PZ-1p
is neither too large, nor too heavy. It's a dream to operate.
My Super Program is a bit smaller, until I put the winder on it,
but not a serious competitor for the PZ-1p in versatility.
Body-wise, if Nikon made an F5 with a Pentax K-mount, I'd buy
one. I've handled an F5 and I have no complaints about the
size, weight, or feel.
