Never heard of a lens sock, but I once had one of these things which
worked pretty well in light rain:
Ewa Rain Cover for 35mm SLR cameras
A rain hat for your camera. Soft,
clear plastic cover protects your
35mm camera like a rain hat
protects your head. Use in rain,
snow or sandy conditions. Has
small dime-size hole on back for
clear image through viewfinder.
Front has larger 2 1/2" diameter
hole for lens to slip through. An
awning over this lens cut-out
covers lenses up to 6 inches long
. . . folds back for shorter lenses.
Excellent protection for any 35mm
camera under moderately inclement conditions.
Extends your picture taking opportunities.
