If photography was incidental I'd probably pick a well
maintained Canonet EE1.7 GIII.

If the purpose was photography, there is no way I would settle
for just one body unless it was a press camera of some type
probably a Mamiya Universal as I have used that extensively. 
Why? Reduntancy. If the shutter fails, change the lens. If the
film advance fails, change the back. If the rangefinder fails,
use scale focusing. In fact, short of smashing it there is
almost no way it could become just a paper weight.
