Hmmm
well to be a bit controversial, I also read the review in AP this week, and
while it was a tad luke-warm, to be honest, he made a valid point.
Just because Pentax says its a Pro-spec camera, and prices it accordingly,
doesn't mean it is a Pro-spec camera when compared to the range of other
offerings at the moment in the pro range. An Eos-1, F5, F100, Dynax 9 (or
7) or EOS 3 it aint (nor was it meant to be). However, that is the "Pro"
spec of the moment.
That said, I think it is a fine camera, but I certainly wont be rushing out
to buy one, when I can get a Z1-p for approx. half the price, and an LX
with a Motor Drive for about 2/3rds of the price, both of which are
pro-spec machines in their own right.
I know that there has been a high level of interest and discussion on the
MZ-S over the last while, but as a long term pentax user, it suspect that
its in part due to the fact that this is the first "serious" camera
released by pentax for quite some time, and justifies our faith in the
brand. All I can say is roll on the Flagship II (the Z-2?)
