Because they are misleading, basically.

The technology making the recording isn't the dominant factor.
A more relevant comparison would be:

 o  A lens designed for use with a large sensor can be
    relatively small compared to sensor area.

 o  A lens designed for use with a small sensor must be
    bulky in relation to sensor area.
