all teleconverters work by magnifying the center portion of the image formed
by the main lens. if you don't put a really good lens in front, you're not
going to get good results. the best converters i have used that have Pentax
AF couplings are the recent Sigmas, but even then, they are not that good. i
think the 1.7X is better than any of the 3rd party converters.

Had a little talk about the 1,7 AF-converter with Fovi. They did not know
whether it works at the Series 1 zoom, as I assumed, but they did tell me
that it didn't perform well with the FA 80-320/4,5-5,6. (To who ever that
might be interested in this piece of info).
