Okay, you guys may be right. I may have to look into color management. What I've read about it so far, though, I haven't found comprehensible. Is there a decent source in ordinary English for non-technos?

Color Management theory is complex. Bruce Fraser's "Real World Color Management, Second Edition" is about the most readable and useful book I've found to date.

Has everyone else on the list color-managed their computer, monitor, and printer? Am I the last holdout?

I can't speak for everyone on this list, but I've been running color- managed image processing for at least the last decade, although there have been massive improvements in stability and ease of setup in the past 4-5 years.
