the Sigma 12-24 is pretty good and not hugely expensive. mine is very sharp. from comments here and other places, it seems that it suffers from the usual Sigma problem of not so great QC. i got lucky and got a good example. won't be as flare resistant as the Pentax, and bokeh is different in a way that you may not like, but it works on a film body and isn't as expensive as a good example of a Pentax A 15/3.5. i can't recommend the Sigma 15-30. you can try the Tamron 14. it works on a film body, has AF, and is better than the Sigma 14. it'll cost you though.

That might be but it's a terrible substitute for a slide shooter using an MZ-S.
