Just thought I'd let y'all know that last week I replaced the Alkaline batteries in the D's battery grip with Energiser Lithiums ($10.00 for a set of 4). Since then I've taken 561 RAW shots, all DL'd via the USB connection on the camera with ZERO false low battery errors. I was getting frequent errors even with brand new Alkalines. Hopefully this good behavior will continue. ;-)
