Well, while I am writing, and since I have some experience with the manual focus version of this lens, I'll point out that I'd had some decent results one time using the Tokina AT-X 80-200/2.8 manual focus lens with an A 2X-S TC - as I recall, I did not try the lens with the TC wide open, but at f/5.6 (effective f/11 with the TC), and the FL was at 200mm (effective 400mm) at that time (I really wasn't "zooming" with the TC on the lens). The Tokina AT-X 80-200/2.8 manual focus lens is one of my favorite lenses. Fred
