I don't even have the 77 and have to agree with Alan.  My FA*85 is one of my
favorite lenses, but I only use it for portraits.

IMHO, FA*85/1.4 is great for portrait, and only. I used it for scenery, and
close-up with extension  tubes, but the results were disappointing. FA77/1.8
performs more even for different subjects.
