Whatever that means...

I'll attempt to explain.
I'm long retired, with a limited income. Sufficient for me and mine, yet not a lot of surplus for others.
I've got a wife who works, and between us, we manage to support ourselves and our fading parent and grandkids.
And, put some money away for the time when personal catastrophe appears, as it will in everyone's life.

I/we contribute a substantial amount to various groups and agencies that help the poor and destitute.
We contribute clothes every year, and whatever else is still useable when we're replacing it with new or different.

We have a parent to contibute time to (several hours a week) and money to (a few hundreds a month,) to help them finish up on this earth in a reasonable fashion, free of as many indignities as we can shoo away. It's all worthwhile effort.

Thing is, there's precious little surplus to go around when we get done paying for everything else.
we use just about al lthere is, to keep US from becoming disadvantaged, now or in the future.

When I said I had no time to worry about any disadvantaged folks, I meant any OTHER disadvantaged folks.
There's only so much to be spread around ~ time, effort or money.
I'd be remiss if I didn't orient what little I DO have toward my own family, no? Then, if there's any left, it goes to charity.

Best I can do, or promise to do.
If that isn't enough effort for anyone else, tough s**t.

I don't have time to worry about all the disadvantaged folks in the world.
I mourn their plight, but...most frequently, just being aware is about the best I can do.

And pray that circumstances don't put you in their boat, someone else with your present attitude will gladly take your place.
