1/4 to 1/3 of american workers have no paid vacation at all. The also have no medical benefits. The median income is about $26K. Many of that 1/2 the population that makes under $26K actually work two full time jobs. The working poor here is something all americans should be ashamed about. The worst of all are the working single mothers 80+% of whom are making less than median income.

Why should *I* be ashamed about something I had nothing to do with?

I wasn't even alive then. Get real.

I'll quickly vote to correct that, if and when such a vote surfaces, but until then, don't ask me to be an activist, either.
I take care of my close and extended family needs first, and I don't have any poverty needs myself. For which I am eternally grateful... My plate is full. Not of food ~ of responsibilities toward others.

I contribute where it will help.

I don't have time to worry about all the disadvantaged folks in the world.
I mourn their plight, but...most frequently, just being aware is about the best I can do.
