My second *istD and the DA 16-45 lens arrived late yesterday. i've set up identical functions and custom functions in both cameras. After some bad experiences with "auto sensitivity adjustment," I've turned that off. If you're on Aperture priority, it will switch to a higher ISO when it runs out of shutter speed. It won't open up a stop. And it doesn't trust the photographer to work with a slow shutter speed of 1/15 or so, something which I do quite frequently.

I'm really very pleased with the DA 16-45 thus far. It is somewhat large, but it's not very heavy. My first *istD has the battery grip, and the lens is definitely in proportion to the size and weight of that camera. My second camera will eventually get a grip as well. Double the battery life is worth the extra weight. The build quality of the DA 16-45 feels quite quite good. Even with the lens barrel fully extended it doesn't feel flimsy. I can't say the same for my FA 28-105/3;2-4.5. Of course it can't compare to a stout K series lens, but it seems close in quality to A series lenses. I shot just a dozen frames or so, but they look very nice, even at f4. Corner to corner sharpness appears to be very good at 16mm from a distance of about three feet. I'm going to shoot some more in just a little bit.

Juan, glad to have you back! Just last week I posted a message to the
list about your web page for the "Pentax H 60mm f/8 Limited" lens (with
the much sought-after "bokeh-on-demand" feature)!

It seems like the *istD was *made* for the Pentax H. Perfect match in its finish, handles great, and the smaller sensor uses the sweet spot of the fine one element plastic optic :-)

I'll post some pics taken with it and the *istD (I'm going to get
carpal tunnel syndrome just from typing that name) as soon as I can.

The 16-45 seems like a nice lens, but it's bulky and the istD feels so
much better with a small prime. The FA35 will be the main lens
attached to this body. The zoom will be around I guess, but I might
ebay it if I don't use it much.

I'm really happy with the istD, I don't think it couldn't be closer to
an MX in terms of feel, given the market constraints nowadays. It's
very very nice.

Pittsburgh is only about 30 minutes east of Ohio - stop on by if you can

I might! Although I wasn't planning to go anywhere farther east from Ohio (it will be a hectic trip as it is, back and forth in two weeks). But I'll let you know.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome!
