As with most of Tarkovsky's films -- Stalker, Mirror, Andrei Rublev, Sacrifice, Nostalghia, etc., I fell asleep the first time I watched "Solaris":-) But then during each of the subsequent viewings I was kept on the edge of my chair from start to finish. Maybe you should give it another try, or a third:-)
