If you are scanning Velvia in 16-bits/channel mode you'll see
less noise and more detail in the shadows.  That's about it.
So if you've got a lot of Velvia to scan, and if you expect
to be doing a fair amount of post-scan image manipulation,
you might want to consider the more expensive option.
