I already offered 'just one tip' so I won't offer anymore as it's outside the remit of the original question. However, I have a poster up on the side of one of our fridges (my wife collects them - don't ask) and it is of a native African girl in a 3rd world country somewhere looking down the viewfinder of a 16mm film camera (an Aaton I think - could be an Arri SR maybe) and she's smiling - the camera is pointed straight at the photographer's lens and the caption reads in big white letters: 'A PHOTOGRAPH IS USUALLY LOOKED AT - SELDOM LOOKED INTO' I see it every morning as I go out the door and there isn't a day goes by when I don't think about it.
