Partly correct: It's true that the "A" pin disconnects in the OFF position and connects in the ON position but, because the corresponding pin in the camera body is recessed, a K/M lens will *not* short the "A" contact in the camera. It doesn't know what kind of lens is present, but it knows that the "A" pin isn't shorted they way it should be.
