Try cleaning the 3-4 pins on the top of the winder, and the 3-4 sockets on the bottom of the cameras. They get dirty/oxidized and don't make good contact.

I recently got a new (to me) Winder MEII, which appeared to work fine for a while. Today, when I try to use it I'm having some difficultly. Pressing the shutter button on the winder will activate the meter in either my ME super or my Super Program, but it won't actually fire the shutter or wind the film.
